Are you a right fit?

Mary’s Land Camp takes the hiring process very seriously as it is a major goal to hire only the best counselors. We look for young adults with a passion for aiding in the development of children both physically and mentally, understanding each child’s God-given dignity. Their commitment to ensuring a great experience for campers creates a camp worth returning to every year. Our program looks for dedicated counselors who hope to return year after year to continue growing their relationships with each other and the entire camp community.

Many of our counselors come from around the country and live on site throughout the season, developing a close knit community with a common goal – to provide wonderful experiences for campers and each other.

Program Overview:

The 2024 summer camp season runs from June 10 – August 23. Each camp session is 1 week long starting on Monday and ending on Friday. We are a day camp, so campers go home every afternoon and return again in the morning. Counselors are assigned to a group of 10-14 campers throughout the week, guiding and mentoring them throughout the camp day.

Once the campers go home for the day, the counselors have daily duties required of them, both those living on and off the farm.

Counselor Community and Formation:

We encourage counselors to live on the farm throughout the duration of their employment at camp. This strengthens the community outside of the regular camp hours and allows for further formation of friendships and each individual. As a resident counselor, you are expected to fulfill duties on and around the farm in order to contribute to the community life. These duties include preparing and cooking team meals, feeding and tending to the farm animals, cleaning residential and communal areas, and more. In return, housing, meals, laundry, some transportation, and worker’s compensation insurance are provided throughout employment.

Resident counselors are expected to participate in daily continued formation. These activities include small group discussions, seminars, and outings.

Counselor Requirements:

Counselors must be 18 years of age or older and a US citizen.

Ideally, a counselor would remain with us for the vast majority of the season, but we understand that some may not be available the entire summer. We ask that you commit to at least five weeks for the season.

Counselors are paid a stipend on a bi-weekly basis and expected to work a full M-F week. We do not allow partial weeks as this disrupts their camp group. Counselors are expected to commit to their available weeks upon being hired.

Hiring Process:

Our online application is now open. Please fill out the application to the best of your ability, including your available weeks and any expected vacations. Our administrative team will review applications and schedule initial get-to-know-you calls to ask any additional questions about yourself or your application. after reviewing all the information, a second interview may be required with additional members of our team before a potential offer is sent.

We hire on a rolling basis, meaning we hire as applications come in. If we think someone is a great fit, we send an offer letter. This closes up spots and desired weeks quickly. It is recommended that you apply early and commit as soon as you are ready to guarantee your spot. The majority of applications are expected before January 15 and we expect commitments by March 17. Final applications for 2024 season are due March 15.
